November through February is a colder time of year for North Texas, not to mention less sunlight which slows things down. We also have the holidays in all this, often we desire to wait on the outdoor home improvements until Thanksgiving &Christmas etc pass.
Some people also believe that the cold weather is not a good time to build an outdoor kitchen, take care of brick repairs, the list goes on. This is an incorrect way to think. If the temperature is at or will be at 35 degrees or higher, then it’s perfectly fine to have these projects taken care of, even pouring concrete. There are times that one day may be a bit colder, maybe at freezing, but for only a day or 2. These are times that we do the prep work, stocking material on your property, excavating for footings, the list really goes on.
Of course, if it’s a patio cover, we can build that any time of the year. Don’t feel sorry for the construction worker, we’re used to working in all climates. In North Texas, we swing from freezing temperatures to 110 degrees.
Typically our workload takes off in late winter, about mid-February, there isn’t usually any discounts that happen this time of year and often you may have to wait a month or two before we can get to you.
So, if you’re looking to have any outdoor improvements taken care of, this is a good time of year, PRICES are typically lower during late Fall & Winter. It’s also a good time to negotiate pricing. If we can lower prices, this is the time to do so.
Remember we never lower our standards and cut corners to lower prices. Please be aware that many construction people do not care about the structural end of things, the part you dont see. A stone border should have a concrete footing with rebar installed, not just a thin mortar base. You dont see this, it’s under ground, but this is where stone or brick work fall apart. We refuse to cut corners.
In other parts of the country it’ll snow and have snow on the ground for months, yet construction moves forward. Caution and certain types of preparation are done so the work moves forward. Now, you might say why take a chance, I’ll just wait. Spring & Fall brings challenges with a lot of rain at times, we’ve had springtime where we prepped 20 patios and then poured them all when the rain finally stopped. Summertime in Texas has many challenges that we use caution and preparation to complete the work with heat challenges.
So, if you’re wanting improvements done or even thinking about it, gives us a call, let’s see what we can work out & don’t hesitate to ask for a better price, it doesn’t hurt to do so.
